What padel balls to buy?
When buying padel balls there are a series of factors that you must take into account and that can help you make the best choice:
Type of player: Depending on your level and style of play, you will need to buy padel balls that adapt to your characteristics.
Climate: The weather is a very important factor, since it is not the same playing on a covered court, which is protected from possible inclement weather such as rain, as in an open court located outdoors.
Court conditions: Depending on the type of material the court is made of, one type of ball or another will be necessary. For example, concrete courts are very fast and require slow balls for the game.
Composition materials: The ball will have specific characteristics depending on the materials from which it is made. The balls that have a thicker nap are for low or medium level players, while those with a thin nap are faster, so they are more suitable for advanced and professional use.
How many types of padel balls are there?
When you select padel balls, though there are a large number of brands, there are only two types of balls: slow and fast.
The basic difference between the two types is the materials used in their manufacture, since depending on their composition they will have different benefits. An important aspect that you must value is that your objective is to seek balance. Therefore, if you play on fast courts, you will need to get hold of slow balls; on the other hand, on slow courts, the best choice will be fast balls.
Best brands of padel balls
The brands that manufacture padel balls are very numerous. Companies such as Head, Bullpadel, Wilson, Adidas or Siux produce balls approved by the Spanish Padel Federation. Here are the most prominent brands:
Siux: This brand has extensive experience in the manufacture of padel products, such as rackets and clothing. Its models are designed to offer the highest quality, resistance and durability. It has models for players who are starting out, or for medium-level training, where they seek to improve their hitting and technique.
Adidas: The German brand stands out both in fashion and in sports in general. Its padel balls have great durability, while being fast and offering exceptional rebound.
Bullpadel: The Spanish company has extensive collections of rackets, shoes, textiles, etc. Their balls have a design that increases the speed of the match and improves its intensity. In their manufacture, they take care of the details to provide the player with a greater sense of control and dominance.
Wilson: For the manufacture of their balls, they use special materials that allow them to repel moisture, as well as prolong their performance. Its balls are one of the most used models in professional tournaments and international competitions.
What are the balls used in the WPT?
The Word Padel Tour uses balls from the Head brand for its competitions. This brand is one of the most famous worldwide. It offers a wide assortment of balls to play padel. However, its most prominent model is the Padel Pro S. It is made of high-density rubber. This makes for good rebound and speed. In fact, it is the fastest ball in its INTtire collection. It is also an official ball in other padel competitions.
Differences between padel balls and tennis balls
You may think that tennis balls can be used to play padel, but in reality this is not possible. First of all, a padel ball must have the corresponding approval by the Spanish Padel Federation. In addition, the colour, the diameter, the weight, the pressure and rebound capacity are totally different. This makes their performance on the court completely different.
Therefore, at Pādel Nuestro we don’t recommend using tennis balls in padel matches. Only balls from brands that have proper accreditation should be used.
